The Assessor is responsible for setting the assessed value of all properties and buildings in town. This is the value upon which your taxes are based. You can find out the assessed value of your property by calling or visiting the assessor's office. Ask to see your assessment card to understand how your property was valued. Residents wishing to contest the values set by the Assessor may appeal to the Board of Assessment Review, see their page under Boards. Forms must be completed and returned to the Assessor's Office no later than Grievance Day, which traditionally is the 3rd Tuesday in June. Any resident may discuss his assessment with the Assessor at any time during the year. All property owners should click on "Forms" to the left to see if they may be eligible for any exemptions.
The assessor is appointed to a six-year term by the town board.
